Teaching Experience:

2004-2005 Director of the 2nd jazz ensemble at Evergreen High School.
Weekly lessons with private students on double bass, electric bass and cello in both the jazz and classical genres,

Bill Beach, Shirley Nanette and others. Performed at the 2007 Portland Jazz Festival and for the Beaverton Arts & Communication Magnet School
fall fundraiser to support their exceptional jazz band program.
1994-2002 Freelance jazz performance with regional favorites: Doc DeHaven, Kelly DeHaven, Dave Cooper, Tim Whalen,
Louka Patenaude, Geri DiMaggio and others.
1994-2002 Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Madison, Wisconsin. Contract position as principal bassist performing monthly
from October-May, and performing for a 6-week outdoor series each summer.
1994-2000 Madison Symphony Orchestra, Madison, Wisconsin. Contract position for section bass, performing
monthly from September to May.
1998-2000 Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. First-call substitute for the bass section.
1993-1994 Sinfonia Concertante, Portland, Oregon. Contract position as principal
bassist performing monthly from September to May.
1989-1994 Portland State University, Portland, OR. Associate conductor of the P.S.U. Orchestra; principal bassist
of the orchestra from 1989-1994 while completing undergraduate and graduate degrees. Solo performance
of the Bottesini Double Bass Concerto in 1992, composed and conducted a six-minute etude for public
performance with the orchestra in May 1994.
1991-1992 Oregon Symphony Orchestra, Portland, Oregon. First-call substitute for the bass section.
1978-1995 Jazz Bassist. Full-time freelance performer in groups from 2 to 17 musicians playing everything from big band
swing to straight ahead improvisation. Some notable performances include: September 1993 Slide Hampton
& The New Jazz Masters, Sacramento, CA. Recommended by the band's regular bassist, John Clayton.
July 1993 Monterey Jazz Festival in Noto, Japan. Played with the Mel Brown Quintet featuring Chuck Finley.
Also performed with Eiji Kitamura, Andrew Firth, and Smith Dobson.
1991-1993 Tapping with the Masters, Portland, Oregon and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Concert in 1991 was taped for PBS documentary on the life of Honi Coles.
1990 Monterey Jazz Festival, Monterey, California. Main stage concert with the Mel Brown Sextet.
1990 Diane Schuur. Backed Ms. Schuur at several concerts including DaVinci Days at University of Oregon,
Grand Wazoo at Washington Park Zoo, Cascade Aids Project Benefit.
1988 Gig Harbor Jazz Festival, Gig Harbor, Washington. Main stage concerts with the Mel Brown Quintet.
1985-1986 Mount Hood Festival of Jazz, Portland, Oregon. Two main stage concerts, one with the Mel Brown Quintet,
one backing Japanese clarinetist Eiji Kitamura. Additional performances with: Bud Shank, Charlie Rouse,
Shelly Manne, Julian Priester, John Handy, Herb Ellis, Henry Butler, Red Holloway, Joe Beck, Ernestine Anderson,
